Construction on transportation and public realm upgrades along Davie Street between Jervis and Thurlow streets is set to begin next week, with completion expected in spring 2028.
According to the news release by the City of Vancouver, work will be sequenced to reduce impacts on businesses and the community, but people travelling through the area should expect delays while construction is underway.
Drivers can expect reduced lanes, road closures and detours, as well as parking restrictions throughout the project. Temporary detours will also be in place for people walking through the area. Bus service will continue during construction, with some stops temporarily relocated. Transit users are advised to check the latest alerts and bus service information.
People travelling in and around the area are encouraged to plan ahead and expect delays. The City also recommends checking road conditions before travelling by using map apps, following #VanTraffic, or checking traffic cameras.
According to the news release, the completed project will provide a more welcoming and accessible public realm in Davie Village, supporting businesses and making it easier for people to access shops and services.
