The District of North Vancouver has started charging a 2% processing fee on credit card payments, as it expands the bills residents can pay by card, according to a notice posted on the District’s website.
The fee took effect October 14 and applies to eligible Visa, Mastercard and American Express payments made online, in person and by phone. The District says it shows up as a separate line item on the receipt.
Residents can now pay utility bills, business licences, building permits, parking tickets and recreation program registrations by credit card. Anyone who would rather skip the fee can keep using other payment methods, which are not subject to a processing charge.
