Project Wave, North Van’s annual boating safety awareness event, is happening this Sunday, August 15th, at Whay-Ah-Wichen (Cates Park).
It will be held at Cates Park, from 8 am to 4 pm.
Every summer, as scores of recreational boaters enjoy the warm waters of Indian arm and the North Shore coastline, North Vancouver RCMP and ICBC get together to educate the public about their obligations as safe and responsible pleasure craft operators.
Project Wave provides an opportunity for the public to meet the people who patrol our waterways and rescue those in distress, and to learn about our ongoing efforts to educate the public about safe boating.
We’re inviting everyone to join us and check out the displays and educational resources we’ll be bringing. ICBC’s crash car will be on hand, as will a variety of marine emergency services such as police boats, search and rescue, and if they don’t get called for a marine rescue, the Coast Guard Hovercraft might just show up as well.

Whay-Ah-Wichen (Cates Park) is the District of North Vancouver’s largest seaside park. It is used by people from all over the Lower Mainland as a boat launch and recreational area.
