A driver displaying a learner’s licence was pulled over by North Vancouver RCMP on Wednesday night, April 22, after being caught travelling at 175 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 1.

When asked by officers why they were driving so fast, the L driver had a rather straightforward answer: they were in a rush to get home.

North Vancouver RCMP immediately impounded the vehicle and handed the driver a hefty ticket. A licence suspension is also likely to follow. “Choices like this put their life, and the lives of others, at serious risk,” North Vancouver RCMP said in a social media post.

In addition to the immediate penalties, the driver faced the added inconvenience of arranging their own way home. North Vancouver RCMP did not release the driver’s age or identity.
