A routine traffic stop in North Vancouver led to the arrest of several individuals and the seizure of contraband tobacco and hard drugs, according to RCMP.

The North Vancouver RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit members pulled over a vehicle recently for having burnt-out taillights. During the stop, officers noticed a large box of unstamped cigarettes in the back seat. The vehicle’s occupants were arrested under the federal Excise Act for possession of unstamped tobacco.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered an undisclosed quantity of hard drugs. Police say all items were seized, disrupting the illicit sale of the substances and targeting the profits of organized crime. RCMP did not release the number of individuals arrested or the specific types and quantities of drugs seized.
