Step Up for LGH returns October 4 to fund new rehab unit at Lions Gate Hospital

The Step Up for LGH walkathon returns to the North Shore on Sunday, October 4, raising money for the Re-Imagine Rehab Campaign, according to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.

Presented by Craftsman Collision, the event starts at 10 a.m. at Millennium Park at the bottom of 15th Street in West Vancouver. The 5km walk follows the Seawall from Ambleside to Dundarave and back.

The morning will also include free treats and music, an obstacle course, puppy yoga, activities for kids, and health and wellness checks. Registration costs $35 and includes a free T shirt for every participant.

For those who want to fundraise, getting started is simple. Participants can register and create their own online donation page, either on their own or as part of a team, then share the link with friends and family. Donations of more than $20 receive a tax receipt, the foundation says. Participants can also simply buy a $35 ticket and join in at Millennium Park on the day.

Money raised will support the foundation’s Re-Imagine Rehab Campaign, which the foundation says will transform intensive physical rehabilitation at Lions Gate Hospital and help more patients get the specialized care they need on the North Shore.

“Step Up for LGH is our biggest community fundraiser of the year and it’s always a wonderful opportunity for everyone on the North Shore to come together in support of our hospital, the heart of our community,” says Louise Campbell, Vice President of Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. “It’s a fun day for families and friends, but it also has an important purpose. Every person who takes part this year will help transform rehabilitation at Lions Gate Hospital and bring more specialized care closer to home. We’d love to see our community come out in force and join us.”

Step Up for LGH takes place from 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, at Millennium Park in West Vancouver. Details and registration are available on the Step Up for LGH page.
