West Vancouver police found a suspect fast asleep in a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Vancouver.
Police arrested the suspect, even though they were not looking for him. West Vancouver police were responding to a report of a vehicle that had stopped in an unsafe position on Highway 1, just before the Capilano Bridge.
Officers arrives and quickly determined the vehicle was reported stolen from Vancouver, and then they found a male suspect sleeping in the driver’s seat, oblivious to the people circling around him. He was awoken from his slumber and arrested without incident, police say.
A fraud success story from Ambleside
An alert resident in Ambleside was able to figure out a phone call to him for what it really was: A fraud in progress. An Ambleside resident received a call from a suspect, claiming their son was under arrest and cash was urgently needed to bail him out. West Vancouver police say the resident recognized this was a ‘Grandparent/Parent Scam’ & disconnected the call immediately with no financial loss.
The son’s well being was confirmed through a separate call, and police were notified of this fraud.
