This coming Saturday (October 17th, 2026) is election day in North Vancouver District.

The residents who vote that day in the District will decide who will lead our community.

The Provincial BCNDP leaders, by calling a “snap” Provincial election overlapping our Local Government elections, have clearly indicated that they do not respect the role of Local Government and are confusing the citizens of our Province.

By contrast my three terms serving as a councillor have shown me how important the actions of Local Government are and how our decisions directly affect and improve the lives of residents. Local government is the most proximate to the people who elect their representatives. Local government deserves respect.

How do we plan our communities? Where do we place housing (near transit or in car-dependent locations)? What kind of housing do we build (rental, strata ownership, affordable, supportive)? How do we engineer our roads for greatest efficiency? Do we invest in bike lanes? Do we have recreation centres and libraries? How much of a tax burden do we place on residents to fund these services? How can we protect our green spaces and our communities? These are all questions that will be answered by our next District council.

I am running for my fourth term on District Council because during the last 12 years I have learned a great deal about the issues facing our community, and how Local Government can hear and be your voice in these decisions.

North Vancouver District is a beautiful place. We can all feel very proud to live here. But we face significant issues, our roads are congested, our rents are high, our taxes and utility levies are rising faster than inflation. Combine all of this with the mysterious debacle of the North Shore Waste Water treatment plant as managed by Metro Vancouver, we can and we must do better.

If I am re-elected to Council, I will use my knowledge of the issues and my experience in Local Government to guide decisions made so our community enjoys a better future.

On transportation, I will advance functional, affordable and achievable initiatives to address traffic congestion. On housing, I will prioritize rental and affordable housing, especially near transit. I will vote against large strata developments that will bring in new population that our infrastructure (traffic, hospitals and schools) cannot support. I will demand accountability for the North Shore Wastewater treatment plant debacle, and demand governance reform at Metro.

On taxes, I promise to only vote in favour of tax increases at or below the level of inflation. The budget must be managed accordingly.

I am running for my fourth term on Council because I believe that if I am re-elected to Council I can positively influence decisions which will make our community an even better place to live.

Let us hope that going forward, all orders of government will see themselves as allies in a joint effort to make life better for everyone.

If I am re-elected to North Vancouver District Council, I promise to do everything in my power to inform and support collaboration with all levels of government to improve the quality of life for all of us.

Your vote counts. Your community matters. Please vote on Saturday, October 17th, 2026. Our quality of life on the North Shore depends on it.
