The extended R2 Marine-Willingdon RapidBus will launch Sept. 7, providing a direct connection between Phibbs Exchange and Metrotown Station.

According to the news release by the District of North Vancouver, the new service will offer more frequent transit service, increased capacity, and improved access to key destinations across the North Shore, Vancouver and Burnaby.

Mayor Mike Little joined TransLink and regional partners to celebrate the launch of the service, which is being introduced ahead of schedule.

According to the news release, the new R2 service will replace Route 222 between Phibbs Exchange and Metrotown and will operate frequently throughout the day, seven days a week.

The service is expected to provide North Shore residents, workers and students with a faster and more convenient connection to Burnaby and other destinations across the region.
