77-year-old woman injured in stranger assault

A 77-year-old woman was injured in an unprovoked stranger assault on Vancouver’s west side, according to a Vancouver Police Department news release.

The senior was walking near Cambie Street and West Broadway when she was intentionally shouldered and knocked to the ground by a man walking in the opposite direction at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, the news release says.

The suspect kept walking east on the north side of Broadway without saying a word or offering help. A witness called police and stayed with the woman until officers arrived. She suffered a cut to her head and was taken to hospital for treatment.
